How about “Gretta” or “Greda”?
Meh, doesn’t really make sense to me either, I just like throwing random ideas out and see what happens.
Well I can’t say I support it, but I won’t bash it. Just seems like an oddity idea without enough novelty to make it interesting.
One could say it “just doesn’t strike my fancy” if one enjoyed outdated sayings.
Perhaps it’s some deeply rooted tradition?
Kind of seems too weird a quirk for an entire species…

Those names are fantastic,but they seem to fit better for a different type of Griffon,like a high authority or royalty.
Kinda like Celestia and Luna sound a bit more “otherworldly” than regular pony names.
I’m picturing the griffons talking like Klingons.
Heck, griffon culture may be Equestria’s version of the Klingon Empire for all we know. Gilda certainly would fit in with that.
Reminds me of the dog from Madeline.
Or Nike, the greek equivalent. Of course, folks seem to have decided it has to begin with G.
