Actually, sirvancelot, there’s an easier way to get the image URL. Once you’ve found an unuploaded image in a gallery, right-click it and copy the link location. Then, just trim off anything in the link starting with a question mark. It’s how I do it, anyway.
Erm, by description I meant, filename, in the URL. For example a picture might be named something like that Twilight-And-Celestia-In-A-Muffin, rather than ’fav.me/kfjsalhdaskldha”. Which is not very descriptive.
Since fav.me is an official DA thing, and it seems to work fine with oEmbed, there shouldn’t be a problem with it. I don’t like to use it for source links, though; it has no description at all, whereas most image page links have a decent description of the image that can help give extra context even if there is no real ‘description’ to go with it.
Well RIG, I am not sure what to say about that. I have yet to see that problem happen to me when doing as I outlined in the guide. I do occasionally encounter certain errors, but if I listed every possible contingency in this guide it would have gone on forever T_T
actually, most of the cases i fou d let me download the full rest version, is just that the url option doesn’t pit it up, for example; i upload a pic by URL, its res is 800/1000, but then i download first and upload it, its res is 1000/1200.
RIG: Yes, but I find that only occurs in situations where there is no higher resolution available. Sometimes artists will not let you download the highest quality version. They will only let you download the preview. In this case, there is typically no “download this image’ link next to the picture. There is no workaround for this as far as I know; the artist has intentionally prevented you from downloading the full picture, so even if there was a workaround, it would be a little exploitive.
Derpibooru also takes the fav.me url but I don’t know if there’s a difference with the image url.
On another note, what about the fav.me URL? Doesn’t Derpibooru also accept that? Is it good or bad to use it?

Although I admit to using the description box to make snappy comments about the images… sometimes. I can’t help it dammit!!
oh, you know…
I approve of this image
