a bit too pop-ish for me, but short and sweet nonethelesss.
Writing in a similar style to another song isn’t the same as basing something on that song. Two songs by the same composer in the same style are bound to sound similar, but that doesn’t imply that one is based on the other.
I said it was based on it, not that it was the same. Plenty of times they’ve used the style of an old song and slightly changed it to make it new.
Not the same tune, just a very similar style. I wouldn’t blame you for thinking it was the same, though.
