Correct.
@Star Cavalcade
You know what? Constant nagging doesn’t work if the one being nagged doesn’t respond.
>cultural appropriation at its worst (especially engaging in behaviors that don’t apply to someone of your background)
Oh, come off it and go back to Tumblr. No “background” has a monopoly on any “behavior”. If I like something, I’ll adopt it; that’s how culture works. Cultures have been exchanging ideas for millenia; the kind of cultural isolationism you’re advocating leads to nothing but stagnation.
I’m from Texas and have family who have farmed. Rarity’s hick show actually got me hot under the collar at points during this episode, as it obviously did Applejack. In fact, Applejack basically called Rarity out on this by saying she’d be happy to teach Rares farm chores if she was still remotely interested in them after Trenderhoof had left.
I’ve done dumb stuff in the past too. I can avoid doing it now, Though, By thinking differently.
This is probably better directed towards him, but… sorry about that. I was really annoyed with some of the other crap I was seeing around here yesterday, and I guess I took it out on him.
>makes one gorefic three years ago
>makes one gorefic three years ago just because it hadn’t been done
>stopped writing fics years ago
>admits the fic sucks
>admits the fic sucks repeatedly
>other artists have made even more cruel and gory art/fics since then
>still gets treated like a sociopath because Party of One helped it go viral early on
Sounds like me messing around on Xbox Live in 2008. Something like this in a metaphoric sense would’ve been of help:
Yes. Exactly this.
I took it the moral as “don’t force yourself to be something you’re not”. Just because Rarity’s parents are a certain way doesn’t mean she has to be the same way.
Also, I’ve done things I’ve regretted in an attempt to fit in better with a certain group of people. It was never who I was, and I never felt good about it, and it doesn’t convince anyone. (Like Rarity’s fake accent.)
Truly, trying to downplay who you are just causes people to like you for all the wrong reasons. When they find out who you really are, then all kinds of stupid drama results, friendships tend to fall apart, and it generally wastes everyone’s time.
Yes.
@sargesprinkles
“as a friend pointed out, this episode’s moral basicly said “sure you can be a sociopath, it’s not your fualt they don’t like you”
Does not compute; That is not what I interpreted.
Then again, I shouldn’t be surprised seeing something like that from the person who wrote “Cupcakes…”
Seriously, people like you who write fanfics that derail characters for the sake of cheap gorefests disgust me.
If Trend didn’t like Rarity AND his creepy shrine to him which contained a lock of his hair, than it’s his loss.
@BarryFromMars
@anonymouspegasus
@The Twelfth Doctor Whoof
Basically, these.
That is the most ridiculous leap in logic I’ve ever heard.
She tries to downplay her commoner origin so she won’t be judged in the wrong way.
More importantly, she does it for business. Such petty things get thrown out the window when it comes to earning a living. Nopony in her line of work would give her the respect she deserves if she acted like a country bumpkin.
And frankly, despite being from Ponyville, she clearly doesn’t come from “bumpkin” stock; her parents - uncouth though they may be - certainly aren’t poor.
Or….just change them to make them fit you.
