The comics don’t have the kind of canon powers that can affect ships. They are unessential to the main story.

I would draw something of Lunamac (I kind of like the idea of royalty falling for common laborers, call me a romantic), but I suck at art.
 
This thing has happened before, though, with many other canon ship-teases. Can’t think of any off of the top of my head (does Shyceps count?). People just seem to like their ships, regardless of what’s canon.

I’m still so confused by the sheer number of fluttermac pictures and sheer lack of Lunamac pictures….
 
I mean seriously….the first one has had zero interactions in any episode, and the second one actually happens in the OFFICIAL COMICS.

Big Mac enjoyed her time with Luna, even though half of it was just exausting, and Luna kissed Mac on the cheek on the ferris wheel which made him blush.
 
This is from the comics the actual writers of MLP:Fim, not Hasbro’s marketing department, declared canon unless declared otherwise. Where’s the fanart?!
