I always imagined 30 moons to be about more than half of a year.

I like to assume Granny Smith exaggerates a lot of things, or is at least confused. Remember, according to Winter Wrap-Up, Ponyville is hundreds of years old.
But yeah, in Apple Family Reunion Applejack mentions that they measure things in “moons”, IE months. Interesting choice to use a lunar calendar.

About the time thing, someone made some calculations that suggest an Equestrian moon might only be one week, which I guess would mean the portal opens every seven months or so.
I’d imagine the same amount of time, unless Luna pulls off 30 moon rises in ten seconds for some wacky reason.

Which would be 30 months. Aside from guessing that one “moon” is equivalent to one complete cycle of phases of the moon, which is about 4 weeks on earth, has there been any evidence of how long a “moon” lasts on Equestria?
Pretty sure it’s been calculated as two and a half years.
30 “moons”, which is probably about the same as 30 months.
Exactly, and what about the mirror that closes after 30k years?
Does the time in ponyville pasts 1000x times faster or something!?!
Reasonably so compared to what we saw in the first movie. Note that Twilight still has the blocky-boots thing going on.
And the toys will still look like crap.
