“I thought Id make a Chrysalis one just for fun, but make it a little more monstrous. However, for some reason, I felt compelled to make it a humanoid version (an updated version of this), as opposed to a bugpony.
I decided to pull the design a little bit away from the insectoid/alien look, and a bit more towards some type of fae. I envision her hair having a texture like the membrane of a leaf (even though Im not entirely sure how that would work). I made the horn more like that of a markhor goat, which I think is what the stylization in her canon design is actually meant to imply. And yes - Im still sticking with the bifurcated mouth, because its delightfully horrifying.”

Truth be told, I hadn’t thought of Yzma till Hittite posted that pic and with The Emperor’s New Groove being one of my favorite films I kinda got caught up in that. I think it’s just because there’s some semblance in that they’re both thin, pointy, big-eyed designs and also WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVEN’T WATCHED IT ENTIRELY?! HOW COULD YOU NOT- DROP WHAT YOU’RE DOING AND GO WATCH IT NAO!!!
I kid of course, but I do regard it as one of the best I’ve seen, along the Iron Giant and the Road to Eldorado, and I highly recommend it.
Eh, it’s okay. I guess I just didn’t notice because I haven’t even seen the movie in it’s entirety. :P

Once your art has been released to the masses, you have no control over their interpretation of it. It’s frustrating, but unavoidable.
I wasn’t trying to make fun of it, it’s just interesting to note how similar it turned out.
I literally never once thought of Yzma while drawing it, so the fact that people think it looks like her is kind of irritating… 9_9;
