I am who I am
From my understanding, FiM is performing quite well in big cities in Japan (apparently where it’s not doing so well is the more spread out areas) and from what I understand of Japan, a series can be successful that way because it’s so population dense there. Plus, I’ve heard that the toys and merch are selling quite well (but I don’t know that for a fact).

So I’d imagine the series there at least goes through season three (AliTwi toys) and Equestria Girls (those dolls).

We’ll, the original cast may come back for season 3, though on a different network. If the show moved to JAITS stations like tvk, CTC, MX, and TVN, it would perform better.

What makes you think the original cast won’t come back? If the show is successful enough in Japan, then surely they can afford to bring back the voice actors to dub the third season.

Can’t or won’t?

Some of the casting was hit and miss in my opinion, but at the same time, I can’t think of better ones. Being the edited localization it already is though, I wouldn’t mind a redo of the entire show again sans the cuts and minor botched translations or complete lack thereof otherwise. Would be alright personally too, if it instead heads to direct-DVD releases

The returning issue here being funds, again.

Also, I have to say: You. You’re the one responsible for the Japanese Wikipedia article.

Keep up the work.

Thanks

Having just scanned through some of the comments on GT, they reckon it’s not gonna renew due to competition. From Barbie or something. Can’t say i’m not gutted. I liked the dub. Despite the cuts and the “little pony TV”

Here is where I read it. Japanese Wikipedia confirms there will be 52 episodes aired; that is, all the way up to the end of Season 2.

Skipping through other sources, doesn’t really seem like a cancellation. Rather, sounds – reads like this was just a part of the original contract. Not sure where or how they’ll take it from here. Whole thing was a semi-large gamble after all, and if the popularity and profit numbers prove for it, the show might go on.

Anyone got a link to that? why are they cancelling the series? is it not profitable? And before Japan Ponycon in may as well.

Thanks for the bit of info. Been out of country for too long and half-difficult to keep up.

Just found the blog article from the source covering it too. Prospects of a dubbed Season 3 isn’t too optimistically looked upon, it seems.

It’s the first serialization of the manga that is over. It is unknown if their will be a second serialization. Due to high production and dubbing costs, that may not happen.
