I’m with you on this one at least. I love Fluttershy, but her role in the parasprite debacle displayed a level of stupidity normally reserved for Snips and Snails.

Fluttershy’s my favorite of the Six; I wanted to smack her upside the head for doing this in Swarm of the Century. And, their reaction to Fluttershy keeping one “because it was cute” was a particularly harsh Death Glare from Applejack, Rarity, and Twilight (and me clapping my hand against my forehead in response), whereas Pinkie wasn’t (knowingly, at the time) making the situation better or worse.
 
Every character in this series, no matter how much I like them, tends to deserve to get whacked upside the head for doing something asinine.
 
…it’s usually Spike, though…insufferable little dragon-shaped fax machine…

Ok, ok. … to explain with logic.
 
Pinkie pie in the episode said, she has no time to explain she had to get all the musical instruments together. Why? Cause they freaking multiply way too fast. She wanted to stop it before it got out of hand and if her friends helped her the town wouldn’t be in any worse situation.
 
Why did she not care about the way Twilight and everyone was doing things? Cause her solution was quick, simple AND it got rid of every single papasprite in ponyville.
 
Twilight’s magic made things worse. Rounding em up and leading em to the forest doesn’t work cause there is always 1 or 2 left behind. Someone who doesn’t want to get rid of it or worse just 1 that slipped through and back to swarming.
 
So yes, Pinkie Pie could have explained her reasoning. She didn’t, why she figured they all had some idea of just how bad the little bugs are. Everyone in all of Ponyville freaked out and had no clue. Pinkie Pie kept a calm head the whole time.

Yeah, but when people see stuff like this. That’s what they’ll assume, you know? These pictures can make a lot of assumptions on the original poster, so you really have to be cautious and make your point crystal clear. The internet can be a really mean place.

Yes, but when those discussions are obvious jabs at other people for having different opinions on who’s the best or worst character, they mostly end up being really vitriolic. Sometimes, a guy really does have to step back and say to himself, “Wait, I’m getting angry over a TV show. I need to calm down.”

If I recall, Pinkie was simply carrying the cymbals, and was a bit surprised when Rainbow’s tornado yanked them away.

Hell, I’d rather we actually discuss the characters and the show, which is why people are posting a lot of comments. People like to talk about it because it’s interesting. No one is forcing anyone to click on an image or thread, nor participate.

I love how one episode is now causing people to shift blame and make Pinkie Pie or Fluttershy look like horrible ponies. Seriously, I’m all for discussion, but sometimes you really have to say to yourself, “It’s just a cartoon.”

Pinkie could have easily told them why she needed them  
and the rest just assumed it was just Pinkie being wacky  
You could argue 60(Pinkie)/40(the rest)

The rest of the mane 6 for ignoring Pinkie’s “randomness”, finding the parasprites in the first place, and causing Ponyville to be destroyed…
 
… or Pinkie Pie for not explaining herself, unleashing the swarm onto Ponyville, and claim to have tried to explain herself, even though she didn’t even try.

Both sides suffered because of a lack of communication. That’s the problem with the episode

Always disliked the “lesson” at the end of this one. There’s no mention of the more important point; don’t pick up unknown animals and take them home with you.
 
Isn’t Fluttershy supposed to be some kind of animal expert? Shouldn’t she know this?

Also, at the end, Pinkie Pie claims she tried to explain her method to madness (why she was grabbing all those random instruments), but I don’t think she ever tried to explain herself. She just tried to get all the instruments without explanation.
