The God of His Dark Materials is a British atheist with an axe to grind. It would be well and truly impressive if Lord Asriel were to kill his own author.
It was just a random joke, I don’t know much about his dark materials except that it has some extremely antireligous undertones
The God of His Dark Materials couldn’t heart attack an obese chihuahua after five espressos, though; he has to be carried around in a special invalid’s seat.
Edit: Well, one of the possible “God”s of the setting does. The other just sends his armies or throws a spear, like normal non-omnipotent regents.

Because Chakravartin was, quite simply, a completely selfish dick. He created a Ghoma Vlitra and caused the suffering and deaths of billions just to find an heir, and stated that he’d destroyed and recreated the universe multiple times for failing to provide a suitable successor. It’s implied that the only reason he wants an heir is so that he can find other universes to reshape in his own image.
Not to mention that, by this point, his offer to make Asura the next true God really pisses Asura off, because by this point Asura pretty much hates the very idea of gods.

As long as people like Jack Chick and Fred Phelps exist, I don’t think you should say that it isn’t a real sentiment that shouldn’t be criticized.
Far fewer than you think, I guarantee you. It’s popular these days to twist statements like “God says you and I are sinners” into “God hates you and wants you dead,” just to set up a nice easy straw man.
There are quite a few people who claim that God feels this way, though.
My statement is directed at people making the set of claims and commandments in question. If the leader is purportedly telling people to do these things but does not exist, then it is in fact the people doing the purporting that are telling people to do these things, who are therefore themselves the immoral entity in question.
If God doesn’t exist, God doesn’t hate homosexuals, or Jews, or Communists, or whoever the preacher is going on about today. The preacher does. That’s what I meant.

Well, the nature of divine revelation is certainly a point of more than a little controversy, but let’s suppose for a moment that such edicts were completely knowable and that everyone was indeed aware of them beyond any shadow of a doubt. Rebellion in that scenario is the kind of defiance that I’m saying is totally illogical. Let me put it this way: if you are standing on train tracks and see Amtrak headed straight at you, are you going to stand there and say you won’t move because you have a right to be there? Barring a desire for suicide, that would obviously be completely unreasonable.
