I think it’s the subconscious knowledge that RD would like a belly rub more than any other pony, but would fervently deny it to look cool.
 
Imagine it. You start rubbing her soft belly very gently at first while she lays there with droopy ears and a sour expression on her face. You rub harder, maybe start using your nails to scratch a bit while you rub, and her eyes dart around and she fidgets, desperately trying to act as if she’s only doing it for your sake when she’s clearly enjoying it. Then you act like you’re going to stop and she insists you continue, only for her entire face to turn red while you smirk at her.

I would also like to talk a bit about dat belly. I know that supposedly all of the pones have the same body types; so why is it that RD seems to have the most superior belly of all time? It’s just wonderful.
