That doesn’t exactly run off the tongue very smoothly, though. And Hasbro would have a fit trying to fit that onto the merchandise.

I have to admit that I like the fact Rarity seems to genuinely believe Fluttershy would be a better pony if she weren’t so…well, shy. Flutters won’t always have somepony there to back her up, so I like the idea that Rarity tries to push her.

And even if Fluttershy says no, well, she said no. That’s progress, isn’t it?

Yeah, she does want Flutters to be a little more social. But that’s because Flutters does need to be a little more social. There’s a difference between “Shy” and “Crippling Social anxiety.”
At this point they should change her name from Fluttershy to something like Fluttercripplingsocialanxiety.

Perhaps, but Rarity is a very persuasive girl…it’s hard to say what counts as “pressuring” in her book.

I think Rarity sees it as a sort of personal mission of hers to draw Fluttershy out of her shell. She’s seen the beauty in our yellow pegasus and thinks it’s “a crime against fabulosity” that it’s being hidden by her shyness.

Remember that Rarity is the Element of Generosity. That extends to more than just material wealth–it extends to beauty as well. She’s a firm believer that anything beautiful must be shared with as many appreciative viewers as possible. That’s why she pushed Fluttershy into modeling, and also tried to rope her into the Ponytones.

The difference between “Green Isn’t Your Color” and “Filli Vanilli” is that in the former, Rarity was jealous because she thought she was being cheated out of the attention Fluttershy was getting. In the latter, she was already getting the attention, so she had no reason to be jealous.
