Surprising how militant some ’shipper fans can be though. I remember back before “Hearts & Hooves Day” first aired, some girl on DA who was obsessed with “FlutterMac,” got angry, fearing it would canonize “CheeriMac,” (therefore sinking her “FlutterMac” ’ship) so then she started drawing a bunch of hate-pictures of Cheerilee, and constantly bashing her on her DA account…
Ironically, the episode seemed to be a subtle poke at fan ’shipping. (Which is quite common in many fandoms actually.)
That’s mostly shipping goggles. Really everything is platonic until explicitly proven otherwise, for any pairing. I’m standing by the lesson from H&HD that they are friends and I hope the show commits to that and doesn’t vindicate the Cutie Mark Crusaders.
Meanwhile, Big Mac continues to get deeper and more interesting with every appearance he makes while Cheerilee is becoming a background character who can only be described as “happy teacher”.
But the only bit where Fluttershy is shown to be interested in Big Mac is in Fleetfoot’s imagine spot in the comic.
As a matter of fact, she has canonically only shown interest in Bulk Biceps…
