I suspect the artist maybe under a similar impression. Although it has to be noted the little rodents size did seem to vary rather wildly during the course of the story. During the scene with the Corgi he looked to be about their size which would be roughly correct, and then in another it seems to come almost to a normal pony’s shoulder then standing upright, but then in other panels yeah he seemed about the size of a largeish rat.
Seriously, I never saw a real opossum… always thought that they were tiny. The one in the first youtube clip was as big as a small dog!
