What Pinkie is looking at is the somewhat existentially disturbing proof that she was once nothing but a mass of non-sentient cells being fed nutrients through a thing.

“If it exists, there is a fetish of it”, no exceptions, folks!

I’m just a bit surprised FtK was, eh, “tricked” into drawing fetish material? Or maybe (he/she?) knew it was?

Their art style makes me think they’re purely “safe”, but looking into it a bit they’ve actually drawn not-safe stuff before. Huh.

I don’t either :c But we can enjoy ponies and their adorable navels regardless <3

You have a DA? :P My flagship for this entire fandom trend is centered there.

This was the conversation that happened during the creation of the show.

Random person: “Why don’t they have belly buttons?”

Animator: “Why would they?”

RP: “Because everyone has one and has seen them repeatedly, also every mammal has one”

A: “I DO WHAT I WANT OKAY!”

They’ve already shown foals in nursery’s (and talking slightly of genetics, implying not some magical creation), family trees etc., it’s obvious they and everyone in every show you’ve every seen reproduce, I really don’t see where the stigma comes from.

Innie, shallow innie, inbetweenie and outtie are the four types :3 But honestly, I couldn’t tell you unless I saw it xD Description doesn’t do to well when it comes to belly buttons.

They don’t want to open that door, but the far more likely reason is the inherent assumed sexualization that comes from belly buttons. Hell, the US banned women from showing their belly buttons for the longest time up until a matter of decades ago, they’re certainly not going to have cartoon horses have them when they don’t even need to, on a TV Y7 show, despite how awesome it’d be xP

It is anatomically correct from the real-life standpoint :3

@BellyButtonsAreMagic
I have no idea what belly button I have, it’s like an outie but then sunk in like an innie. (And not from a large gut or something, just how it is) How common is an innie/outie hybrid?

If they make belly buttons canon, they then canonize that they do in fact reproduce in a mammalian manner…maybe they just don’t want to open that door.

Anyway, I wouldn’t call it anatomically correct, but perhaps anatomically plausible or anatomically likely.

Nah, just making a point that it’s short enough where it would be visible :3

Horses and equines have belly buttons, so it’s not really completely fictional, is my point. Fun fact too, Dash in fact had a belly button as an animation error in one episode, as I was informed about last week :P And it’s not even a recent one.

Outties are really rare, so it’s probably from personal preference and remebering what they look like. Only one out of ten people has an outtie, so it’s probably a majority rules thing.

@BellyButtonsAreMagic
You say “pathetically short, thin fur” as if that’s a bad thing xD

It’s hard to ever really call something fictional “anatomically correct”, but I will say that I both enjoy them with or without belly buttons.

The funny thing is that I’ve only ever seen pony belly buttons drawn as innies and no outies. I prefer innies, but I can’t say I’ve ever seen anyone draw an outie. (maybe it’s just so people can draw them putting things in their innies…that sounds odd)

They’re cute, and anatomically correct! :D

Got it changed recently to reflect my motives. I plan on making pony belly buttons a fandom trend known by all :3

Somepony’s thinking with their naughty parts :3 I approve and shall join you. Even though, belly buttons are equally awesome for me <3

Be marveled by her belly button could quickly lead to the question of why she has it, which would quickly lead to her gaze drifting down for an answer xD
