I know. I use a 4/4 bass as a prop with my Octavia cosplay. I’m tall, so a 4/4 with the endpin all out was the only instrument that would be taller than Octavia as she is shown in her depictions. In theory, she’s supposed to play a cello.

There’s a reason I called it a ‘double-bass sized instrument’.

If you scale off of apples, cows, rabbits, and other things we have more direct equivalents to, her instrument is bass-size, regardless of its other features.

It’s a cello. A bass has tuning keys that exit the rear of the pegbox where the cello has pegs that are on the side of the pegbox. Octavia’s instrument is always shown with cello tuning pegs.

Using this scale means that every apple, cow, rabbit, etc etc etc is weirdly tiny.

Octavia is actually playing a double-bass-sized instrument in the violin family (actual double basses are part of the viol family–shaped a bit differently, different shape holes).

WHOA! When did Octavia go through a growth spurt?

{And I always imagined Celestia to be bigger then a regular horse, since I usually put the Saddle Arabians as horse sized {since they pretty much were horses} and she’s bigger then them.}
