So, because it’s different, it’s „inferior“? Pfft…
 
And many languages other than English the date has to be said like „14th of March.. etc.“. For example, in German (Because I live in Germany) if the date is 23.07.14 (Or 7/22/2014 as you’d put it) you say the date „Der dreiundzwanzigste Juli, im Jahre 2014“ (Literally meaning „The 23rd of July, in the Year 2014“). That’s why it’s Day.Month.Year, but in English you can say it either way, so that’s why several English-Speaking Countries use Month/Day/Year.

Further proof that the European date format is inferior. Why they insist on listing the day before the month I really don’t know. “The fourteenth of march” is so much more clumsy phrasing than “march 14th”
 
International standard for lyf. Arranged in order of length, but with month still before the day, eg, 2014/03/14, which also matches the hour format, eg, 10:41:59
