Azula had an inferiority complex that contributed to her developing an enormous ego and become a megalomaniacal control freak. When she couldn’t keep perfect control over every single person around her, she rapidly became emotionally unstable and her entire psyche unraveled explosively.

Closer to Trixie, honestly, but even Trixie isn’t remotely as fucked up as Azula was.

On that note, I don’t think the comparison here works either. Maude is emotionally inexpressive and understated, not withdrawn or depressed. Mai, on the other hand, was aggressively passive-aggressive because everything she ever liked was ruined by her family and friends so she walled herself off from emotional contact on purpose. Completely different.

So in other words you wanted Korra to be just like Aang, even though the Avatars have always been established as human beings despite being the most powerful benders on the planet. Newsflash, none of the Avatars are perfect and each one is different. Korra is the most human in terms of personality. Besides, ever heard of character growth and development?

@Captain L
I’d say it is considerably better. But it had more to work with, and a better main character. Korra’s just Wowwy look at me I’m the avatar, lets punch something until it does what I want.

She’s like an evil Katara during her trip with Zuko, except she has all 4 elements, and it’s season 2 Zuko.
