One thing people forget/ignore/don’t realize about that whole thing, a couple days before JanAnimations got the C&D, he had just announced he was going to be taking commissions for show quality pony animations. I honestly think he would have been able to continue doing pony stuff, had he not done that. I’m not saying it was the sole reason the C&D happened, but I do think it was probably one of the key factors that got him it.
@Commissar Elusive
In no way, do I support Hasbro’s rash decisions on C&Ding fan projects.
I just don’t like it when this fandom losing itself declaring unnecessary “jihads” on Hasbro, a corporation that really didn’t actually do anything to harm people, as some sort of incarnation of Satan, everytime some shit like this happens. Hasbro actually has a pretty good track record that many big businesses can only envy. However, I do wish that they find a way to allow fanworks to coexist with official products without conflict.
There are far more worse companies out there that deserve pounding. Banks, EA, Monsanto, Fox, Google, etc.
Jan might have pulled it off just in case. I don’t know much about the extent copyright claims can take, regarding stuff like art style, voices, animation, themes etc. Likely Hasbro made them pull it off too.
I really hope Mr. Vogel is able to get Hasbro into coming up with certain options to allow fanworks to continue without fear of futures take downs. Maybe there is something in the law they know that would grant exceptions to people like us to do such thing, that most people have no idea about. Cross your fingers.
@DrSklee
You people are making Hasbro look like they’re Disney, which is not the case. I know it sucks whenever it happens. But, C&Ds are still considered seldom with MLP, compared to many other franchises. You should look at what some anime fandoms had to deal with. Shopro and Tokyo Record Company are just as ruthless with copyright take downs as Disney and Viacom.
No it did not, research it before you pass it on as fact
You and everyone else are overreacting.
Maybe you’re right…
Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
I’m not holding my breath, I’m just here for the ride.
At this point. I would suggest the fandom to let the professionals sort this mess out, without us getting on their bad sides. Look good.

Video game companies are just as guilty of C&D notices.
What interests me is what will this mean for the Brony Documentary shorts he worked on, since that stuff got pulled too.

Their ruining the thing that made MLP so successful in the first place, the fandom
Agreed.
Well, for some, it’s kinda rubbing salt into the wound.
People are just a little frustrated with the topic, nothing against you of course.
+1
It’s all just in good fun, guys.
