Honorary family members that arent invited to family get togethers
Thats not tactic, is pre-school level teasing. It annoys me every single time anyone reacts to that the stereotypical way. It gives you the impression only one in 10000 writers be it literature, TV, Movies… can write characters that actually think and are self aware, instead of just beeing puppets controlled by a very limited set of rules.
I had hoped that in the previous Flim Flam episode, when Applejack asked if honorary family members could be included, the Flim Flam Brothers would refuse, but then would have their own tactics used against them.
Applejack: Can honorary family members be included?
Flim: Absolutely not!
Flam: The competition is against the Flim Flam Brothers, and the Apple Family. Friends don’t count as family.
Applejack: What’s the matter then, Flim and Flam? Chicken?
Flim/Flam: You would mock us? Fine! Bring whoever you like? Not even the kingdom of Canterlot can help!
Fine, add (mild) overconfidence to the bad character traits list. They still won by effectivity.
Yes they accepted but its bending the rules at best. Would defining Flim and Flam as honorary Apples and threrefore counting their quota towards Sweet Apple Acres qualify as cheating? (FF:“We disagree!” Apples: “Tough luck, you can choose your friends, but not your family!”)
The Apple family checked with Flim and Flam before the others helped, they didn’t “cheat first” as they said it was okay.

The Apples were ahead after utilizing more than 4 times the manpower.
Stubbornly rejecting ingenuity and effective use of recources while not counting the fact that the old methods just couldn’t match up, doesn’t make for a great lesson to be learned either. Before they cut quality control their method was superior in every way. Flim and Flam were greedy selesmen and sore loosers, which makes them bad people, but in my book they won.
I wonder if rainbow got her cider the year after. The problem never was solved.

Actully it was pointed out and not just in the one episode they to the Apples there friend are family to them as well, and Flim and Flam said they where alright with them helping anyway, Flim and FLam turned it up without saying a work when they asked if the others could help as well.
Is it really cheating if both sides agree to it? Also, they didn’t just “turn up the speed of their machine”, they shut off the quality control entirely. That’s just stupid, cheating or not.
Oh they did nothing wrong hehe. Now, could you please give me all your livelihood and money? Trust me, it’ll be worth it and definetly not a scam!

1st of all, it’s “care”. 2nd of all, they cheated to win. Ultimately resulting in them putting debris in their cider.
