MDE is still trying to convince people this is a legitimate kickstarter? It’s been weeks since they were revealed and lost all their support - I don’t think they’re going to change anyone’s minds, if they haven’t already.
 
It’s okay - not every prank goes your way. Sometimes things just don’t work out for whatever reason. It’s normal. When it’s obvious things have gone sour for you, the best thing for your reputation is to admit it, and move on.
 
Hey, if you really wanted to look like good sports about it, the best thing to do is to make a video explaining what you were going to do, how much of it you got to go through with, and how you were found out. Laugh about the whole thing, say that this time the prank was on you (or some similarly corny line), and promise your viewers a better show next time.

I still think the most depressing fact is some people think this is an actual legit project.

To be honest give yourself a few weeks you could make a dating sim in powerpoint.

Pretty much this. Kickstarter washes it’s hands from any case where a founded project dosen’t complete it’s stated goals (Be it a total falure or only a partial completation).
 
Also the only thing a backer can actaully sue over is not getting his promised pladge perk, or a compensation. So any goal that don’t affect the delivery of the perks themselves is not legaly binding.

If I had money to burn I would totally push their goal to the top myself, with the caveat that if they don’t deliver an actual dating sim with oldskool VN levels of alternative artwork poses then they’ll need to videotape themselves eating a cactus instead.  
Either way, best $5000 spent evr.
