This isn’t quite a “trace”, but artist clearly used Jon’s piece for visual reference.
Canonically? No.
But then again, those two combined have maybe 15 seconds of screen time (not counting Equestria Girls or EqG 2: Rainbow Rocks), so fanon is pretty much all they’ve got.
And nobody gives a crap about canonicity when shipping their favorite ponies anyway. Shining Armor and Cadance are shipped with ponies other than each other all the time, despite their wedding being the Season 2 Finale (you can’t get more canon than that).
