You nailed it. I’m not a fan of Rap to start with, but even I know it needs to be handled carefully. So many cartoons would have just thrown out a painfully generic beat, some flimsy rhymes and maybe an oversized clock on a chain.
DHX Media proved yet again they know what the hell they’re doing.
True. The clock-chain is Flava Flave, one of the dance sequences was from “dont copy that floppy.” Pinkie’s outfit is more from the 80s while the doctor’s is more of a 90s style.
Andrea Libman nailed the flow, which is more difficult than people think, and it was well done and right in character for Pinkie.
The best thing is that they treat rap with respect. I’m getting the feel there are more rap nods than just Run DMC.
Agreed on Run P.I.E. She is even rockin’ the Adidas (in pink, ofcourse). The witers and animators knocked this episode out of the park.
