I don’t often understand why fans become hyper defensive over characters like Derpy and Spike. In fact they overdo it more often than not.
 
But with institutionalized bullying and hate mongering at an all time high, i realize that Derpy is a character that means a lot to people because we could and probably and should aspire to be like. Caring, kind and never giving up despite what people say about her. Whatever her physical defects What a great lesson that would be for our kids.
 
It’s a pity that it takes a cartoon to help some of us rediscover what we should already know

This is why I love Derpy, she’s the best mother in Equestria. Even with all the troubles of her day, her clumsiness, her eyes making things difficult, the bullies, and that Dinkies father is??? Derpy always looks after Dinkie, and she’s happy.  
All the love shown for Derpy in the old days, well before The Last Roundup, even before the end of S1.  
Derpy is special to us, some of us, most of us?
