I know how FBS is produced. You should know, that not for every cellinie a serum-free media exist. Sometimes media with FBS are cheaper.  
The most people, who abhor biotechnology or animal testing use pharmaceuticals. And how is this developed? With animal testing and using FBS in cultures.  
You’re absolutely right, serum-free media has a lot advantages. It is just cleaner and more reproducible. But I never saw a biotech lab, who worked without FBS (at least for control).
 
By the way, it was a joke. It’s just water with Ponceau S (Blotting-Solution). Using realis too expensive ;)
