I’m afraid that she does now know Octavia, except Slice of Life and The Cutie Remark.
It’s a legitimate feeling. Magenta’s not a real color. It’s what the brain makes up when red gets contaminated with a bit of purple. So how one perceives it is all in one’s head – but all in one’s head is the only possible way to perceive it. If your brain accurately represented the average wavelength, you’d see it as green.
I’ve honestly felt that magenta is closer to purple than red.
And even after you’ve pointed this out, people will still complain because it’s not the shade of red that THEY thought it was.
Per either Wikipedia or Merriam-Webster’s dictionary, Magenta is a “purplish red.” As in, it’s red. But sorta kinda a purple-hued subtype of red. Also in thefreedictionary.com, answers.com, … (Though in fairness to completion, wiktionary does offer “a purplish hue” as an alternative to purplish red or purplish pink. But it lists purplish red and purplish pink as definitions too.)
So, her official eye color is red. Just a shade of red called magenta.
I get the feeling that that scene may have been Doug venting about the fans basically forcing him to bring the Critic back.
It all comes down to
Apparently, some of them are now complaining about the Sonic Boom design having blue arms. Yes, really. There are several other parts of that design that I could understand people complaining about (though I personally like the Boom designs… yes, even Knuckles. Why exactly does it NOT make sense for the strong guy to be super buff?), but… really? No one complained when the color of his eyelids changed between versions of Sonic Adventure 1 (can’t remember if it was blue in the Dreamcast and the same color of his arms in the Gamecube, or the other way around)…
It’s no surprise. Lots of people are outraged that fans complain about their favorite shows. Hence, the “RUINED FOREVER” strawmeme.
Do eye colours even mean much in fictional characters? To a point people must make huge fusses over it?
At least when people whine about sonic changing the eye color, the other eye color was at least canon.
Well, it was a delicious one.

Red or dead! Wharrgarbl!
Eye colour not matching fan headcanon.
Ruined Forever…
Right.
People are still sulking over something that insignificant? Grow up.
I hope not. They totally ruined her character by making her eyes not red.
Gibberish. Much easier to export to other countries that way.
