The first portal can go to several worlds using spells.
The “Crystal Mirror” uses the stars to open or something. Maybe that mirror is less dangerous than the early model, but only goes to one universe that was not choosen by the Starswirl.
But the point of the portals was “research,” wasn’t it? That explains anachronisms in the show if nothing else.
Don’t try to understand comic book logic. That way lies madness.
think he was trying to perfect the portal, especially after this paradox thing they are talking about. guess it is something like the worlds lbeeding into one another and combining. one way to prevent it is to ensure the portal is completely closed aftewards.
