I cringed so hard at Spike thinking he could set things on fire, and here when he sung. However, singing just built up to Pinkie saying “NAILED IT!” After hearing her say that, it made me laugh for a good minute or so.
This, and this.
This is part of why I love Dave Polsky writing his episodes (or leading the writing for them, at least.)
The execution in the voice acting portrayed a sense of embarrassment while committing to something you know is going to suck but while still being pretty darn musical.
And the writing for it actually made the lyrics seem as awkward as the moment itself was.
And then, after a whole season of (in my opinion) Shoehorned Pinkie, there’s the stunned silence…
…and then Pinkie saves the moment for the audience with her “Nailed it!”
It was a really, really well-written and well-done scene.

I love this scene so much.
That .gif fits my reaction as well
Actually… for singing on the fly, Spike wasn’t that bad.

You’re kind of missing out, then.
Most of the characters are reacting exactly the same way you probably are! :-P
I think ill sit down and watch all of EG:RR before i ever go back and listen to what he sounds like.
Still bad though…
It was easier the second time through. Watching all the ponies cringe actually made it more entertaining. Some mare plugged her foal’s ears.
Man, I had to mute the sound while I watch this part.
“I… I don’t even…”
