Now the manga has made this even more tragic.

So, I wonder: What are they going to do with the ruins of the tree? Just leave it in the middle of Ponyville as a reminder of the dear cost of protecting Equestria? Or tear the rest of it down, maybe put up a memorial to it?

Yeah, it’s that, plus, for me at least, I just really love trees and plant a lot of them from seed, so this is like…a legit death in the show (although the tree is probably still alive at the base and may even partially grow back).

Yeah, it’s like seeing your childhood home be torn down, or something… The way Twilight looked when she saw it’s state was kinda heart-rending to.

I can’t believe how genuinely distraught this makes me. Probably one of the most heavy moments in the show, and certainly the saddest, IMO.

With all the attacks by evil abominations, you have to wonder why any pony would still live in Ponyville, at all.
 
I often wonder if Manehatten, and such have these problems to, or perhaps “worse” ones… Being a pony isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

I think Dan took the basement at one point, Fluffle and Chrysalis most likely took cover there.

I just noticed. Fluffle Puff, Chrysalis and Dan! Don’t they live together with Twilight in the Library?! We just saw Twilight rescuing the owl. What about the others? Where are they? Tirek blow them up!! Tirek killed Fluffle Puff!! She’s dead!! They are all dead!!

I just thought: Can you imagine being the ponies who lived on either side of the library? At this point they must’ve been like “oh damn, I knew we shouldn’t have moved in here.”

I know, but it still kinda has the crystal theme like Cadance’s castle. I just meant like a different look maybe.

Might’ve looked better if her palace had a different theme, then the crystaly one, (we already have a crystal empire) like a tree castle or something.

My problem isn’t so much the destruction of the library (it was a gut-wrenching moment, but it worked for the scene) as its replacement by that ugly palace.

They had to wrap things up, we may see that in season 5.

It is with the passing of time that all good things must come and go, and so it was one of my favorite dwellings in Ponyville.
 
It’s been an iconic and recognized structure ever since the first episode. With this change I see the need for a new intro for next season, but I will miss the Golden Oaks.
 
No amount of crystals, gold and opulence could be as unique and beautiful to me as the living, breathing and simple beauty that it was. I feel like we’ve lost a special some-pony now.
 
The collective knowledge, The past memories and the setting for many an episode, Never forgotten so long as I nurture the sapling which sprouted from the seed those smiles and memories planted not so long ago.

The thing is, the treehouse was so familiar and comfortable, it’d be fine to have it #tirekt to give Twi some real motivation to tear the baddie a new one, but, and then use rainbow magicks to fix her up.  
Instead, any chance of it coming back is gone, thanks to the Crystal Treehouse thing that happened for no raisin

I hope in S5, her “castle” becomes like Ponyville’s new library.  
(Or like the bottom part of it, or something.)
