Unrequited love is fine, and can be a good source of humor in a fictional setting, but I loathe this whole “friendzone” BS.
And for those who don’t understand the difference, allow me to explain.
Unrequited love is when you love someone, but they don’t love you back, and that’s your problem, which is just fine.
But the “friendzone” is when you love someone, but they don’t love you back, so you try to make it their problem, which is unhealthy at best, but it can often be downright creepy.

Well, obviously she does care about the little guy, but the age/species gap pretty much solidifies the fact that they can never be more than friends in the series…
…Unless, of course, the writers attempt something drastic, such as making Spike a bit older, or something.
@PrisonedMuffin
There’s going to be a backlash against fedora jokes eventually, and with that will be a backlash against people who call out “bad” behavior.
The memetic nature of the joke is killing any chance for the change people want people to enact to be completed. The fact that it’s so widespread and used so casually trivializes the genuine message people try to send.

I don’t believe Rarity haves that type of feeling for Spike, but she appreciates him a lot.
are you really jelous of a baby dragon?
It’s because it’s out of character, and the artist realizes it. It’s a joke. A poor one, but a joke.
It is what it is, I suppose. Still, it doesn’t change the fact that this pic rubs me the wrong way.
Ok? This just seems random.
Artist also mentioned that he’s actually indifferent to Sparity, which must make it easier to draw stuff like this, I guess.
Artist at least admits it.

I’ve come to expect these jokes. They’re just sort of…mediocre. The art is decent if nothing else.

You’ll never see me with one on my head, mainly because I don’t wear hats for fashion.
Sweetie Belle: hey what’s this?

He also gets angry whenever fedoras are dissed…
