I agree with that for the first half of Season 4. But as the season wound down I got a sense of disconnect between Twilight and the Mane 5. And also a greater self awareness of her princess status. I especially felt that through “Equestria Games” and “Twilight’s Kingdom”.

-castlemania: it was a given, her “saving the day” hapened regardless of her alicorness, remenber she is the no-nonsense scientific one

-Rainbow Falls: agree, they probably used her because its the season of princess-ing and shit.  
-Three’s a crowd: uh… so?  
-Twilight Time: …duh? she is the adult on the episode, why would anyone else solve it?  
-Breezies: duh? is not like the show hasnt pulled “suitable spell to fix x isue” out of its own ass before, its sort of twilight’s thing  
-maud: agree, but once again, its not a big thing.  
-Testing, testing: studying is also her thing.  
-Trade Ya: agree, i personly didnt mind it but yeah, the judge role could have been given to anyone else  
-inspiration: that was more of a cameo than anything else.  
-EqGames: well, she is his mother/sister/sibling  
-finale: agree, althought it was twilight’s “true acension” it was a bit lame and over the top. enjoyable episode yeah, but tirek was fucking OP.
 
i think all her alicornication did was give her a few more episodes and way more secondary roles.

Mane 5 and the deus ex machina solution with horn and wings?  
Mane 5 screws up and Twilight shows up to fix everything.  
Only exception was Flutterbat.

Yes, and it’s of course mentioned. But alicorn Twi vs unicorn Twi doesn’t make that much visual impact, and the death of the library serves better as an illustration of the trope.

It’s not really jumping the shark when Twilight gets a new home about 10 minutes later.  
Along with the conflict resolved the status quo remains largely unchanged.  
In a way Rainbow Power is the new Elements of Harmony.

I’m sad that the library is gone, too. That is something I really love about this show. I’m really and truly excited to see what adventures await for the Mane Six. :)
