I was in an anime club about 6 years ago, and Hetalia was one of the shows they watched via fansub. I couldn’t get through a single 5-minute episode because it was boring as shit. Fast forward about 3 years when the show got an English dub. The English writers opted to make the show actually funny.

i try not to let annoying fanbases bog down my liking for something. if a show’s good, s’good. it’s the fans that are insufferable, and even then not all of them.

It’s just that it’s a comedy series….and it’s not funny. Like, at all.

I’m something of a history buff, so I want to like Hetalia. However, I cannot. Reason? Annoying-as-sh*t fangirls. It was a few years back and all these teenyboppers just would not shut the hell up about their yaoi fantasies, shipping all these cartoon guys together.
 
Though granted, that’s not terribly different from what we do here, although at least MLP has far more to offer than just shipping. I’ve been active here for over a year and I rarely even mention shipping. Hetalia, though, that’s all any of the fans ever talked about.
 
It’s better now, because those girls are flighty; they moved on to Attack On Titan.
