Well that’s when our imagination comes into play and we have to connect the dots ourselves. I really don’t think they have a plan overall for the show. They just make it up as they go along. Sometimes you just have to accept what is. But then again I’m one of those bronies who prefer the fan works to the original work itself so my views tend to be somewhat outside the status quo.

That’s a shame because The Dark Tower really is a great series…except the end of the final book which was kind of a huge middle finger right in the reader’s face. Oh, and if the Tree is a counterpart to the Tower then maybe Discord’s a prim, and Sombra was the CEO of the Sombra Corporation.

I’m actually not talking about the episodes, I”m talking about series finales and movies as a collective. I’ve never been bothered with little details, only big issues in the writing. But that’s the thing…they are starting to contradict each other. Like the way the well written Rainbow Rocks movie tore Magical Mystery Cure a new one, outright mocking its concept in several scenes.

We were introduced to the characters, hell the very setting, through ‘event episodes’ such as the premiers, finales and movies, and they can just as easily destroy general fan interest by tearing the narrative apart with bad writing.

As for your fanfic, I’m not surprised. I haven’t noticed much intersect in the brony fandom and the Steven King fandom, even if the potential of similar themes does exist.

The show is episodic in nature so I wouldn’t bet on it. My advice is do as Steve Winwood said and just roll with it. Otherwise you wind up like one of those crazy bronies who go berserk over the slightest things.

On a related note I’m currently writing a fic inspired by the Reflections arc and I snuck in a reference to the Dark Tower and some other Steven King stories but I don’t think any of my readers picked up on it.

Meh, fair enough. I have a similar stance towards prefered canon, but I also like to know if the show’s canon has any real direction. Honestly I found the Tree of Harmony itself to be pretty trite storytelling that didn’t really fit, especially now that the significance of Sunset’s story and what she can unleash with the other six is far more significant, and makes the tree seem pretty much worthless now. Not to mention Twilight saying “my cutie mark!” on the tree was while the writers were still in their ‘Twilight is the center of the universe’ phase they grew out of.

Oh jeez I hope not. Although that WOULD explain why AJ suddenly turns OOC and obsessed with its magic whenever she’s near it…

Meh, between the show, the comics, the Journal of the Two Sisters, and all the fannon; I treat MLP continuity as Victor Wong said in Big Trouble in Little China, “Take what you want, leave the rest for someone else. Like a salad bar.”

I mean, for all we know, the Tree of Harmony could be Equestria’s counterpart to the Dark Tower.

A nice idea, one that I would prefer, but unfortunately we know it does not. If it did,

  1. Cadence’s cutie mark would of been on the tree, and Twilight wouldn’t of needed a destiny altering spell to become an alicorn. That isn’t a complaint, its merely stating a fact, it WAS a fate-altering spell as the other Mane 5 can attest to.
  2. There would need to be a tree of harmony in the other world. As far as we know, there isn’t. The lack of elements of harmony was one of the big issues that universe had.

@CronoM
Or, maybe the tree of harmony is what grants alicornhood to those it deems worthy. Just a thought.

@RIG
‘but he is not an alicorn’….anymore.

Besides, someone had to turn Trixie into an Alicorn. By the sound of Evil Celestia and Luna, it was Sombra.
