Thanks for the links, but I already have it pre-ordered from Amazon.co.uk. My comment was more about being confused seeing it sold-out (unavailable) on Amazon, but still up for pre-order on Amazon.co.uk. Maybe the British one has a different publisher?

And yes, what’s in this book should be take in canon; I remember reading that AKR collaborated on the world-building details for this.
 
What will be interesting is to see how, if this goes pre-NMM, how the history will overlap or contradict the IDW mythos.

It seems really unlikely that Celestia and Luna would get their own episode, but I’d really like to see one regardless. There’s too much possible backstory there, it’d be a shame not to exploit it and see the scenes between the past events we’ve already been showed.

There is a big mess going on with Hachette, overarching company that owns the publisher of the book, and Amazon; the exact details are not known why though it is believed over ebook pricing. As such, Amazon has responded by making all their books (including this one) unavailable for pre-order and a few other nasty tricks as to try to force Hachette’s cooperation.

I’m all for being proud of a product and I’m not against self-advertising. But there’s a limit. To me, this is almost (though not quite) as bad as the microtransaction advertisements in “No Heroes Allowed: No Puzzles Either!”, where every forced tutorial stage (6 in total) called attention to the fact that you could use “COLD HARD CASH!!!” (all red text, all caps, three exclamation points, only text in the text box) for improvements to every single aspect of the game, up to 4 times per tutorial stage.
