Meanwhile, Dash and Rarity have hardly ever conflicted in-show, yet Dash fans not liking Rarity, and Rarity fans not liking Dash is as common in this fandom as corn in Nebraska?
Dash is the die-hard tomboy, while Rarity is the girly girl fashionista. It makes sense that their fans are likely to not like the other’s pony, because they are probably one of the most ‘core opposite’ examples of the Mane Six, meaning a fan of Rarity’s girl girl personality is expected to be put off by Dash’s brash, tomboy attitude, and vice versa. But then again, Rarity and AJ are also opposites in this way, as AJ is also like Dash. Yet one pair of characters gets shipped, one gets internet drama. Go figure.

As far as ships go I can see Rarity and Dash more so than Dash and AJ. The competitive nature of both AJ and Dash would constantly meet and put a lot of strain between the two. While Rarity is far enough that they wouldn’t ever really be in direct competition they would still have an understanding of each other.
If that leads to Twishypie, then I’m all for it.
Considering Applejack and Rarity (and Pinkie Pie) are my favorite of the main cast anyways, I can’t easily compare why Rarijack is so much easier to ship than Raridash, beyond my just liking the characters more, and them having more on-screen interaction.
I don’t ship it, but Rarity and Rainbow have just as much if not more in common than Rarity and AJ. For instance, Rarity is also loud and insane, and occasionally a jerkass fashionista. Even though one is a jock and the other is not, they also both share a love for performance art, both watching (Dash admits liking plays in Rarity Takes Manehattan) and performing (Rarity is the only one who understands Dash’s performance anxiety in Sonic Rainboom). They’re also both fairly competitive, even if it’s only in their particular fields of interest which overlap only occasionally.
x) Only large and noticeable trait that I see that AJ and Rarity have is that they’ve got a few episodes around their relationship, while RariDash is non-existent in-show.
Rarijack works because the two actually share a few traits.
Dash is a loud, insane, Jerkass jock. Just the sort of pony Rarity wants to spend time with. But go ahead Raridash shippers, keep on beating your into a wall.
The girly girl pony getting co-op fucked by her two tomboy friends?
This is fine by me.
