And besides, knowing Twilight, she’d probably still be calling it a library because that’s more what Ponyville needs in her eyes.
Perhaps the new castle recreated the books and dresses and things because it somehow knew it would make Twi happy? That’s what I believe anyway.
There’s a “Crystal Princess Palace” playset that came out about a year ago (IIRC); it came with alicorn Twilight Sparkle and had one room with a telescope and a bookshelf (though, sadly, it was almost empty). Even that small acknowledgment of her studious nature was enough to make me consider buying it, but ultimately I couldn’t justify paying $20 for something I don’t even have room to display.
I don’t know of any playset actually based on the Golden Oaks Library, but I freely admit I’m no expert on the toyline. It’s tempting to ask Egophiliac if she knows of any such playset, though I don’t really want to bother her with such a trivial question.
Yeah, the destruction of the library gave the heroes and the fanbase some loss, and added a layer of emotion to the episode. (As well as the previous ep’ “Trade Ya.” Said memorys from the books are probably destroyed now.)
I hope in Season 5 they show Twilight showing some sadness for losing her old home, and the place where she met all her friends, and such.
Her new castle may be pretty sweet, but nothing can replace the memories she had there.
I think they did have a playset, or 2 loosely based off her tree library though, didn’t they? (I don’t know, I don’t collect the toys.) But yeah, I’m willing to bet if they do make a toy based off Twilight’s castle, it’ll look nothing like the one in the show, and be all pink, or something.
I think Hasbro does kinda underestimate their market to much. Little girls like more then just pink stuff, and such. That’s why the ponies are different colored, and have different personalities. There’s a pony for every little girl, (or brony/pegasister :P) out there.
Y’know, I kinda liked the breezies to actually. Especially, Seabreeze. (He was kinda a likeable jerk. lol)
I used to literally dream of living in a library, so the fact that Twilight actually did so was one of the little things I loved about the show. So, yeah, I’m sad to see it go, but I can’t say I hated this scene (because, really, it was an effective scene and contributed to the story) or that I support #savetree (what’s done is done and, unless time travel is involved, they can’t bring back the old Golden Oaks Library).
I have to admit, though, that I do have a bit of a sour taste in my mouth over the possibility that Hasbro wanted this in order to have a more-marketable Twilight Sparkle playset. It wouldn’t surprise me if they thought girls wouldn’t buy her home while it was a library, so hey, screw the girls who love that Twilight’s a bookworm and let’s come out with another crystal palace instead. The impression I’ve gotten from just about all of the G4 toys is that they’re ignoring Lauren Faust’s message of there being many different ways of being a girl, and are instead focusing on the safest, most stereotypical girl toys possible.
(I suppose I should add that, on the whole, I don’t hate Hasbro or think that they’re evil or ruining the show; heck, I’m in that tiny sliver of a minority in the brony community that loved the Breezies and their episode.)
This is how I feel personally, I’m going to miss that structure and the memories there like crazy, but we can always go back and remember the golden Oaks in previous episodes and there’s always new memories to be made in that new tree castle… thing. I may not fully agree with some “elements” of the finale, but I don’t feel angry towards anything, just reeling from that unexpected blow.
The Library meant something more to some people, I guess.
Something that new castle is never going to have.
In some people’s minds, that something was the sacrifice for something more marketable.
And some don’t like how that feels.
I don’t know honestly, I can’t even really think of anything we “lost” besides the library, and Twilight being wingless.
Yeah, but to illustrate my point, how much did we lose, in comparison, to have those other elements in the show?
A li’l bit, (considering Twilight got a new toy-etic tree castle) but I think people forget the show pretty much always was a toy-commercial. Honestly, the “toy” elements are still pretty subtle in the show. The only ones we got this season were the Breezies, (which originated from G3, so might’ve been more of a “call-back”) and the “Rainbow Power” which was only in the show for 2 minutes.
TMNT has more toy-advertising then that, and nobody complains. (They’re already making toys of the new mutants. Wonder if you have to fill Mutagen Man with water like the original ’90s action figure.)
If you don’t agree with them(and you certainly don’t have to), you can at least see why they think that, don’t you?
Not really, but some are taking it to seriously. Especially, the Hasbro-haters, ex-bronies, and such saying the library was “killed for profits.” (Oy vey…)
Do you expect them to be happy about it?
I Loved That Moment As Well!
It’s Almost Sad As Every Single Disney Movie Death (Lion King) Combined?
And Yes I Know The Debbie Downer Bronies Are STILL Flank/Plothurt About This Whole Fiasco!
I actually liked that moment, because it was genuinely sad, and probably the closest the show will ever get to a “good guy character death.” (As somebody else said.) Losing the library was both emotional, and gave Twilight a li’l loss, and the extra push to face Tirek.
Or Nelson from the Simpsons.
Ha-ha!
Yah, I’m exaggerating intentionally
And while I’ve seen a pic kind of like that with comic cadence, I’m surprised no one has actually put the laughing spongebob meme on this
