This, btw, points out that Pegasus flight is magic-based rather than physical strength based. Rainbow Dash is the fastest flyer in Equestria not because she has the strongest wings, but because she has the most powerful flight magic, aka “wing power”.

There’s a physical component to it, witnessed by the pegasi working out to improve their wing power. But wing power is really something like the power levels in DBZ–increased by physical training, but manifested as blasts of magical spirit-energy.
