It did.
I think DiC made a Hulk Hogan cartoon long ago.
I used to be scared of it for some reason
I meant, “don’t” understand. I really hate it when I somehow accidentally leave whole words out that change the whole meaning of a sentence.
I never looked into it that “deeply.”
I still understand why people were scared of it as kids. I found it kinda cute/peaceful as a kid.
~~Ben “That Schmuck with the Cardboard Box” Minnotte, Oddity Archive: Episode 23 ~~ Scary Logos (and other Nostalgic Video Terrors). 19 Oct. 2013.
I know that.
I wasn’t too bothered by it. In fact, I kinda miss it after they changed it to the “Wonderful World of DiC” logo, and later “Cookie Jar,” after said company bought DiC, and replaced all their logos at the end of their shows with their’s making it seem like DiC never existed… (Yeah, that kinda bugged me.)
Ironically, DHX bought Cookie Jar Group, so now it’s DHX.
Further funny coincidence, if you look at the credits of many old DiC shows like “Adventures of Sonic,” some pony voices were in it like Trixie & Snips. Twilight & Rarity were even Koopalings in the old Mario cartoons.
Edited
Can be, indeed, after all, we those who are in our early thirties have seen it to the point of saturation. And, mind you, I’m speaking from the point of view of an European: I can’t imagine the sheer amount of times Americans have seen that version.
I think the Dun,dun - dun, dun - duuuuuuuuuun variation is overrated, the other two is underrated. :(
Yep. And back then we had:
Exactly. He made a helluva good job, but we’re still left to wonder about the bed part.
The “star” bit of the logo was pretty good CGI for back then. He said he had nothing to do with the “kid in bed” part of the logo though, so he doesn’t know who made that.
It’s very few, but for a logo nut it’s nice trivia.
Sense DiC is now history, I don’t know if there is anyone who used to work for them who may know how it was made. Maybe Andy Heyward, Robby London, or somebody who was an exec’ there. Don’t know how you can get in touch with them however.
I guess we’ll never know, though from time to time I look for info about the making-of of this logo, to no avail.
But for those curious, and we being a pony community, the first TriStar pegasus was apparently
an Arab gelding called T-Bone (sorry, Princess Molestia: just a gelding). I found the info by chance and posted it on the linked wiki. But, alas, there’s an alternate theory! We also have our myths and legends, there.
It’s hard to tell, seeing how said videos have aged, so they looks VHS quality nowadays, even when watching the DVD versions. (Sense they aren’t digitally remastered, and just straight ports from the archived Beta tapes.)
I never got why said logo sequence supposedly scared some kids either. I always kinda liked the DiC outro sequence as a kid. (Makes me kinda sad DiC practically no longer exists, seeing how Cookie Jar bought them off, and replaced their logos with their’s… Though, now DHX bought off Cookie Jar, so now it’s DHX’s logos probably.)
About the logo being creepy or not… Well, I’ve been active in the logo community for about 15 years now, and still don’t find anything disturbing in this logo. However, there’s a thing that I always wanted to know: what the stuff in the room actually is. As a child, I thought that the big, muscular toy just in front of the window was Captain Planet, but this is impossible.
The only thing I made out other than the dog is the Humpty Dumpty-like doll on the left.
