But that’s the only way this ship works out:  
  • Spike has a crush on Rarity.  
  • Sweetie Belle has a crush on Spike, mainly because Spike has a crush on Rarity.  
  • Rarity doesn’t know whether to congratulate Spike for finding an age-appropriate friend or to murder Sweetie Belle for trying to steal her “little Spikey-wikey”.

As tired (and kinda creepy) as “Rarity rejects Spike so Sweetie and him get together”, I do really like the pairing itself. We’ll see if that’s what’s happening here.
