Well, you might be asking a little too much if you expect the internet to be aware of such nuances.
Of course. Any hat can look bad if worn wrong/with the wrong cloths. All I was trying to point out is that the internet has mislabled the Trilby.
I’m not really a hat person. I don’t have the right head for it.
…It’s really guys who don’t realize that wearing a fedora or trilby with a T-shirt, shorts and sandles/sneakers who look like douchebags. It doesn’t help if they actually possess a neckbeard. I mean, seriously: “nerd” and “neckbeard” come up as sub-searches within Google Image Search for “fedora”.
The hat doesn’t make the rest of someone classy—the rest of someone brings the hat down. Instead, wear a shirt and tie, keep your hair trimmed, and keep your facial hair neatly maintained. If “stylish” is what one wants, don’t be lazy. .
So yeah. If you want to wear a fedora or trilby, don’t dress like shit.

You’re all wrong. Douchebags wear Trilbys, not Fedoras. Fedoras are still classy.
This is also partly the fault of people who are too desperate to cling onto a silly stereotype to distract themselves from their own low self-esteem
