It’s meant to be a transition piece. The crystal ball is essentially the protected Canterlot, though I never drew it. Chrysalis is staring at her prize as she is in transition between herself and Cadance. The crystal ball is shattered at the bottom, representing how Canterlot is falling and the pieces fall to form the Crystal caves where the real Cadance is held prisoner.
