I actually have Jewish-ancestry on my Mom’s side, (dispite our family being christian) so you better not be implying what I think you are… :P
I might have to beat you with a bagel.
The Element of Generosity being Jewish. There is a joke in there.
Still, it’s a cute pic. Let’s not argue about race to much…
@chaos15
You don’t see “Asian” much in these diversified humanizations. I guess ‘cause it’d be hard to draw them without making them a li’l “stereotypical.” (With smaller eyes, and such.)
@PonyPon
Yeah, there was actually a Muslim/Hijab Rarity pic that got alot of upvotes, (so not all hijab pics are “hated” here) that was pretty good, admittedly.
I think I prefer Jewish Rarity though. >>23614
I agree 100%, but I won’t begrudge a guy or girl who just wants to do a picture of ponies. I’ll poke fun at it from time to time, though, but I poke fun at lots of things artists do.
It’s when people get in our face with these stupid-assed attempts to use ponies to ‘change the world’ and ‘crush the patriarchy’ and ‘spread a message’, or when they’re just so caustic and disgusting in their delivery of their picture that I have an issue with it.
Like, there was one artist I remember reading who was attacking people for ‘whitewashing’ black characters, ie depicting them as white, and being real nasty and antagonizing about it and calling such people who did it ‘absolute pieces of shit’. Yet at the exact same time she’s doing her whole racial diversity with all the characters. If you want to do racial diversity that’s fine, just don’t be a cock about it, don’t lambast others for not doing it, and don’t expect everyone to follow your headcanon that like Fluttershy is a Muslim or whatever.
All I was saying was this picture, even if it is forced racial diversity, isn’t doing any of that poisonous SJW crap. It’s just six humanized ponies of different races/religions and there’s no need to attack this one just because so many of them are like that.
People are free to make their artwork depicting the Mane 6 as culturally diverse as possible, but to me, it kinda seems they do it to be “avant-garde” or it’s the hipster thing to do. Sort of like “Hmmm… I see a whole bunch of people drawing humanized Fluttershy as a white girl with a larger than average bust size in a sweater. I know! I’ll turn her into a Middle Eastern girl wearing a hijab, even though there’s nothing to suggest she would be that in canon!”
I get that humanizing ponies shouldn’t automatically make them a certain ethnicity (like being Caucasian), but it also shouldn’t automatically mean they’re any ethnicity other than what most people would think of them.
Diversity is good. Forced diversity is not.
Most of these racial diversity posts are either really racist on their own or are made in real bad taste as part of that whole SJW thing that already has a lot of people are sick and tired of.
It’s gotten to the point, sadly enough, that such a negative stigma is attached to these racial diversity pictures that they’re lambasted on sight by most folks because of it.
Like I said in my earlier post, this pic has none of that stuff attached to it. Folks don’t have to like it or it’s style, but it doesn’t need to be dragged down because of certain people who have tainted the whole idea.
Still lookin like a game of collect-the-minorities, but they at least pretty well executed.
Maybe it’s just Tumblr that makes them vomit.
Seeing people of other races makes you vomit? You sound like a good person whose opinions are worth considering.
Comes from a Victorian era stereotype about “Oriental” women as well as a good deal of ignorance on the part of the largely Western audience that draws her.
There’s actually some Muslim Raritys if you look.
And some Sweetie Belles as well.
You don’t have to like this one, guys, but c’mon. Let’s not be nasty to the artist or OP unless they’re actually asking for it.
Here. I brought a spare.
Figures.
Let me get my vomit bucket real quick.
