To be fair to the Yu-Gi-Oh example, that actually WAS how the scene was done in the Japanese version; it wasn’t a typical 4Kids edit.
Let’s say this - there was more implied violence in MLPFIM than there was in Yu-Gi-Oh (“Oh, let’s cut away the ENTIRE FISTFIGHT”)
That was more of a shove with Dashie, but yeah the others seemed like “implied punches.” Rarity was clearly shown in a pose as if she were attacking with her forelegs like arms/fists.
I can find a loophole in that statement and say that since ponies don’t have arms to punch with, anything is fair game.
A quick check (eg searching DB) - you do have one of the changelings as RBD punch RBD at the start. I think there was one more actual punch that makes contact, but its true the rest are implied punches (like the quick montage at the end, Rarity definitely looks like she was in the final followthrough on a punch)
Also, at Return of Harmony, you do have Rarity judo-kicking AJ too.
That was mostly kicking, or zapping them with magic for the most part. Though, it’s been awhile sense I’ve seen said episode. Though, a few punches with their forehooves were at least implied.
The battle at the end of A Canterlot Wedding.
And Meghan said that the only thing she told the storyboardists for the battle with Tirek was that Twilight couldn’t punch him in the face.
Why not? (Spoiler) Donkey Kong was in it, after all.
Of course, I doubt Hasbro, HUB, or DHX will allow ponies to punch anyone. :P
