Konami published titles in America with both Konami and Ultra brands; Konami created the Ultra and Palcom (United Kingdom) brands to circumvent domestic licensing quotas set by Nintendo, which were only 5 games per year per third-party publisher. Thus, they were able to get away with having flagship titles such as Castlevania published with the Konami branding while publishing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Metal Gear under the Ultra branding.
