Ari(Ruka for the Japanese release) is a boy. Shame you only had the demo, the game was a bit too simplistic at times, but the insane story held it together. Get a copy of it and try it when you have nothing else to play.
I played a demo and wondered if Ari was actually a girl because one of the items I got was mascara…
