Like I said, I only said ‘possible’ sequel. There seems to a matching one for Catrina, which along with Midnight Castle, WERE the two D&D-influenced movies, so its unclear if was alternate promotional artwork or promotional material for sequels that never fell through.
All we know DO know is its official artwork from the creators, but not much more then that.
Can we see this promo-pic?
Apparently, according to G1 MLP/D&D, Spike’s specific dragon species IS supposed to grow wings after a certain age.
They made a promotional picture for Rescue at Midnight Castle, possibly a sequel with Tirek returning that didn’t fall through, and one of the most prominent things it shows is the original Spike just slightly older but with wings.
Spike: “Yeah, I think it is.”
Apple Bloom: “You stole it?!”
Spike: “Naw! I wouldn’t do that. I’m gonna give you something for it.”
Apple Bloom: “W-what are ya gonna give me?”
