@Background Pony #ED9B
I’m sure it was in the /co/ threads WAY back in the days of yore but as time went on, as with any meme it evolves and the fandom grew to a legit phenomenon today compared to a 4-5 years ago.
BTW, are there archives of the early MLP /co/ and /b/ threads anywhere?
I thought the MLP fandom was specifically a trolling thing; people were only watching MLP ironically or because of what I perceived as liking something that was so bad it’s good ala The Room. Boy, was I proven wrong..
@Epicalaxy Master
No, I think it’s evolved beyond that at this point. I personally don’t call myself a brony, although I believe the show is good. Jontron won’t be a brony until he’s clad himself in pony meme T-shirts and added pony plushes to the line of random stuff lining his couch top.
To anyone discussing, whether liking a show, constitutes becoming part of a fandom, (IMO, it doesn’t.) Look here:http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/FandomLifeCycle
We are at Level 4, but were reaching that point where it becomes so ingrained in pop-culture it may reach Level 5.
@Joshua
Ross made a crack about horses getting their cutie marks on today’s Steam Train. Doesn’t exactly require a deep knowledge of ponies but it’s a thing.
@Joshua
Yeah, I know, and the guy who made them Max is a fan of the show, hence why his parodies at times hint he knows alot about the show, regardless of the insanity in them. (Like the Octavia cameo, and such.)
One of my favorite moments was when Spike was getting on Twilight’s case for saying “Everypony.”
I think this is most bronies first reaction to MLP. :P
@gittonsxv
Yeah, he might’ve only seen an ep’ or two, so I don’t know if he’s a brony/fan overall. Even some people who aren’t bronies/fans have admitted to seeing the show briefly before and admitting it’s good.
Search “artifact, 4chan” in the search bar. I know we have the original MLP post on /co/, we might have more.

From what I’ve seen, being a Brony means you’re involved with the fandom, and probably have enjoyed the show.
Anyway, you don’t need to have pony stuff to be a brony. It’s enough if you like the show.

Liking the show is what being a brony means, you know.
Yep, the date shows it was in between Seasons 1 & 2. The “golden days” of the fandom, when the brony thing started really taking off.
I don’t think he’s a major brony/fan, but apparently he saw a few episodes, and enjoyed them.
Shoulda found this earlier goddamnit.

Check out Part 31 of Pokemon FireRed sometime.
True. I bet one day Game Grumps will make a pony joke.
Hmmm, I wonder why…
Maybe because they featured his former sidekick?

True, but keep in mind that the Pony.mov videos are still brony videos. Anyone can watch those kinds.
Some pony-haters actually like the PONY.MOV series to.
