Well given how the show… explain it… the planet seem to not be in a solar system… probably an isolates lonely planet that doesn’t gravitate around a star.

And so it mean that both the sun and moon is much smaller when we thing and they are also probably spawn of magic and not actually natural star and satellite.

Which mean the sun and moon would be almost equally big. As for the starts… Equestria could be actually one of the last planet of the universe just like in that Doctor Who episode where they go at the end of the universe and the sky is black and the star that ponies see are actually really small light generated at night around the planet.

Either that or Equestria or whatever they are on because Equestria is the name of the country is actually not a planet but more like a secluded world kinda like its portrayed in the bible with the world being a sphere that the top is the sky the middle is the world and under it is hell or here Tartsrus.

But Lulu, the only reason anypony can even perceive the stars during the day is because the sun goes down, and it is the light of the sun that reflects of the moon in the end.

However the way the moon and sun were moved in the season 4 finale would’ve implied a global catastrophe via floods.

I believe this is why meshing Real world Astronomy with a reality where the sun and moon are literally moved by two individuals performing magic isn’t such a good idea.

I’m guessing it’s because people think of Luna as the Night instead of the Moon, and the night is full of stars, so it makes sense until you stop and think for a second (that’s how I realized it)

yeah not sure where people got the Luna controlling the stars thing, you can even see on some episodes when the sun goes down the stars appear normally as the light fades.
Luna can do a lot to the night sky by controlling the moon phasing though, a bright full moon will make stars hardly visible for instance.

I just assume that Luna only controls the Moon directly and that, by it’s magic and the sun’s absence, causes the stars to be visible.
