And, after reading my own comment, I realized something else. I always just viewed this as her poking the candy as she mulls over her own thoughts, but it seems like she’s actually offering it to Nightmare Moon so NMM will stay away from her. I love this scene even more.

I just watched this episode again and had to find this screencap to say how much I love the visual imagery of Princess Luna under the shadow of that statue. There’s this ominous music playing for a brief moment when this happens. It’s so brief but so powerful and interesting.
