To be perfectly fair, the person I originally responded to could have meant either. If you read my original post, you’ll see that I conceded that he may have meant the whole unbalanced gender ratio headcanon instead. There was no way to determine which he meant, and he never responded to clarify that.
 
I will again say that background pony crowds are highly inconsistent and are much too unreliable to form any sort of reliable census. I imagine the gender ratio is actually even, and we just don’t see it because of all the clones and DHX in general copy pasting crowds to save time. Not that I blame them for doing that, they have to focus on making the core of the show, which is a lot of work. The fact that the ponies are primarily monogamous like us humans lends significant credit to that, but of course headcanon whatever. Part of the whole “data is too unreliable to form a census” conclusion, is also the conclusion that it’s simply a matter of headcanon.

Your lectures are completely invalid; if they’re not completely wrong. You’re the only one being absolutely literal here. “female dominated” is allegorical. It means “mostly female”. Nobody is implying discrimination here.

The person I was replying to, by saying “female dominated”, seemed to be implying that he believes Equestria is matriarchal, and I do not buy that notion, as I think it’s gender-egalitarian.
 
Again, there’s literally no indication in the canon of one gender dominating the other in Equestria’s society, socially or economically. In fact, there’s mountains of evidence to suggest that things are pretty equal in that regard, because we’ve had a whole four seasons to observe ponies of both genders doing all sorts of things. And, just in case you didn’t actually read my original post, I will again concede that they do have a matriarchal government at the top levels, though this is more due to a technicality due to the circumstances of the current alicorns in power being female.
 
So, based on what you can see in the show and comics, Equestria’s society is not dominated by one gender. Important to remember that the show isn’t exactly a wellspring of information on that kind of stuff, but I do think there’s little to no real evidence for a matriarchal society, while there is much more evidence for gender-egalitarianism. From what we’ve seen, socially and economically, both mares and stallions are on equal footing.

The outfit seemed to be leaning towards sub but posibly able to go either way, and the one with the riding crop is usually the dom. And is tagged as “Dominatrix” (at >>793675 (deleted) if anyone’s looking for it). So I’m going to go ahead and say it can be whichever one you damn well please.
